Angalo Jestha Jeevan Bahumulya Pratisthan
‘Angalo’ meaning warm hug in Nepali, is a concept and commitment to embrace all Senior Citizens by sharing their knowledge and life experiences. The Organisation was conceptualised with the conviction and commitment to embrace Senior Citizens, advocate for their rights and ensure quality care in their everyday lives. As we believe, that 'Senior Lives Matter'.
Angalo was established in 2017 with a mission to support, network and connect with Senior Citizens and to focus on celebrating them. Angalo is registered as a not-for-profit Company under the Company Act 2063. Angalo carries the legacy of 'Service Fund for Elderly Citizens', the fund raising activity of Shanti Ashram which advocates for the rights and care of Senior Citizens. In the present bustling society forseen by Henry Davies (1871-1940) and aptly expressed as 'No time to see, in broad daylight, streams full of stars, like skies at night,”, we pause to applaud and appreciate the contribution of our Senior Citizens who have played a crucial role in constructing the society we now enjoy. Our Senior Citizens are like stars invisible to the unsearching eyes. We sometimes tend to forget their care and protection in shaping our lives.

Our Goal
In the next 5 years Angalo aims to consolidate a strong, evidence-based and effective Senior Citizens National organisation which will facilitate the development of a powerful, sustained and coordinated voice for elderly people's issues.

Our Vision
Angalo's pursuit of equality, equity and human rights is underpinned by our vision of a Nepal that has re-imagined ageing; where Seniors and Citizens of all ages are partners. Angalo will be active in promoting quality ageing, life-long learning, health, happiness and the well-being of Senior Citizens. Spearheading an environment motivated to push new boundaries and live productively.

Our Mission
Angalo's mission is to innovate, advocate and support improvement of the rights, benefits and services that meet the changing needs of Senior Citizens, their care partners and the community. This includes a concerted effort to influence multi-sector-level policy perspectives and responses to ageing. These would also include social protection and social security which would help transform the culture of care within families and care homes in an accountable and transparent manner.
